Letterkenny has a beautiful 18-hole parkland course situated on the shores of Lough Swilly. Founded in 1913 and designed by Eddie Hackett this undulating layout affords the golfer wonderful panoramic views of the lough side and the picturesque wooded countryside.
The fairways are reasonably flat and wide and bordered by mature trees. In the 1999 the course hosted the Donegal Irish Ladies Open, where famous names such as Dale Reid, Pamela Wright, Laura Davies and Sophie Gustafson were all in attendance.
Also, the new state-of-the-art 10,000 square foot clubhouse was opened in 1998 and has full bar, restaurant and conference facilities. The clubhouse still maintains much of the charm and character of an old style gentleman's residence thanks to the open fireplace, ornately decorated ceilings and friendly atmosphere. |
